Northern Ireland
Aim: The Northern Ireland (NI) test aims to strengthen the delivery of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) projects in the region between now and 2028.
Objectives:
-
To be an intermediary between ongoing NI NbS projects and share learnings from previous projects about barriers they faced and how they overcame them.
-
To facilitate connections and a shared understanding between practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders who are in a position to enable or block NbS delivery in NI.
-
To explore how MNbS programme resources can be used in NI. For example, the end-to-end process and regional convenor concepts in the ‘Collaboration’ workstream, and the risk framework in the ‘Standardisation’ workstream.
Actions:
-
Collating relevant information and learnings through a desk study and conversations.
-
Attending, organising and promoting relevant meetings, workshops and other events.
-
Creating and sharing resources that can reach a wider audience.
How can you get involved?
Please contact the Northern Ireland Connector, Katie Smirnova, to learn more or share any relevant information. NbS are wide-ranging and can include anything from tree planting to peatland restoration or SuDS. You can find a list in the ‘Categorisation of NbS Intervention Types’ Excel sheet here.
We need your help to mainstream NbS in Northern Ireland. We are looking to speak with project teams and practitioners, landowners, academics, policymakers, regulators, funders, and others interested in NbS in Northern Ireland. Don’t hesitate to email us introducing yourself and your work!
